Condominium in Tuktoyaktuc

May 5, 2010

This is a response to Tom Fletchers article defending the HST.  He is the Legislature Corespondent for Black Press.

To The Editor:
Has Tom really become a defendant of the Liberal mandate, or is he only taking direction from the larger company that he freelances for?
many times I have enjoyed Tom’s opinions, what happened to him with regard to the HST?
Walmart is expected to realize a minimum of 3.5 million dollars in tax savings per year. Mr. Hanson, says these savings will be reinvested in in our Provence, creating “good” paying jobs, and boosting our economy.  Should Tom be naive enough to believe that, I would personally like to sell him a retirement condominium in Tuktoyaktuc.  There he could bask in the midnight sun on a fixed income while enjoying a northern allowance on income tax and not  have to pay HST, or the “carbon tax” on his heat.
Tom himself,  will be raped of his rights as a British Columbian when the federal government takes over direct taxation.  Does he not realize, that within a few months the Government of Canada, (not to be allowed to discriminate in their treatment of one Provence over another) must raise the HST to match the highest.  I.E. 15.5%.
Mr. Gordon Campbell (who it seems will be stepping down as leader at the end of this term) is aiming for a seat in the Senate.  His reward for selling out our sovereignty?
Tom should think about it, before continuing to back those against the citizens, of our once wealthy, once independent once powerful Provence.  There are too many poor here, who’s needs are greater than those of the Wall Marts or the Royal Banks.  As for our aging population Tom himself is very close to becoming one of those “non productive senior’s” who(it would seem) in his opinion, only have worth in their bank accounts.
